Rockefeller: Bush Duped Me into War

Senator Jay Rockefeller, the lead Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee, has taken responsibility for his Iraq-war vote like only a Democrat can: He claimed Bush tricked him into doing it!

"The absolute cynical manipulation, deliberately cynical manipulation, to shape American public opinion and 69 percent of the people, at that time, it worked, they said 'we want to go to war'... Including me. The difference is after I began to learn about some of that intelligence I went down to the Senate floor and I said 'my vote was wrong.'"

Yes, we’ve heard it time and time again. The evil George Bush and his mind bullets have voodooed their way into the minds of all the Democrats. And it’s not just during Bush’s term in the White House; he even used his mind-magic in the 1990’s. You know in the late 90’s when people like John Kerry were advocating the use of ground troops to overthrow Saddam and when Democrats like Bill Clinton, Joe Lieberman, Madeline Albright were all making the case against Iraq’s WMD program. Yup, even when Georgie boy was in Texas, he was tricking Democrats into believing Saddam Hussein was a threat… Damn! He’s better than Chris Angel.

Aside from blaming his war-vote on Bush, he also went on to say, according to
WCBS-TV, that he misses the former Iraqi dictator . "Rockefeller went a step further. He says the world would be better off today if the United States had never invaded Iraq — even if it means Saddam Hussein would still be running Iraq."

Oh, and just for the record, Mr. Rockefeller said this prior to invading Iraq: "There was unmistakable evidence that Saddam Hussein is working aggressively to develop nuclear weapons and will likely have nuclear weapons within the next five years. We also should remember that we have always underestimated the progress Saddam has made in development of weapons of mass destruction."
