John Kerry has once again insulted American troops. It might have been a misstatement but chances are that it was not. John Kerry: “You know, education, if you make the most of it, if you study hard and you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, uh, you, you can do well. If you don’t, you get stuck in Iraq.” -Audio-
That statement obviously implies that the soldiers in Iraq are too dumb to be anything but a target practice for terrorist-insurgents; or more accurately for my liberal readers, not smart enough to not get stuck in Iraq. (By the way, just in case he forgot… he voted for this war and supported it prior to Bush coming to office)
Kerry has now been backtracking on his statement. He claims it was just a botched joke to get this: call Bush the idiot. Even his excuse is horribly inappropriate and fallacious. But he can make all the excuses he wants because his words speak for themselves.
Kerry, in the past, has insinuated troops in Iraq were too dumb to drive their humvees and chastised them for getting killed by IEDs "But there is no excuse, three and a half years later, for American troops to be driving by IEDs and getting blown up. Are you telling me they can’t drive a truck!"
And then of course there was the time when the Senator claimed US Marines terrorized women and children. -- So, whenever you hear a Democratic strategist use the argument of “why would Kerry insult American forces” or it was simple a botched joke, remember that he did condemn his fellow servicemen during Vietnam and he has made statements like this several times in the past year.
Update, 11/1/06: After Mr. Flip-Flop vowed he "would apologize to no one" he ended up apologizing. "I sincerely regret (bullshit) that my words were misinterpreted (bullshit) to wrongly imply anything negative about those in uniform, and I personally apologize (bullshit) to any service member, family member, or American who was offended." -ABC News-
