This one comes straight out of the high school from which I graduated:
LAS CRUCES - An apparent altercation in an art class at Mayfield High School led to one student being stabbed and another arrested by police Wednesday.
Las Cruces Public Schools spokeswoman Jo Galvan said the two students were in a classroom shortly before noon when one - identified as sophomore Adrian Nuncio, 15 - picked up a short-bladed X-Acto knife and used it to stab a 17-year-old once in the torso.
The victim was taken to an El Paso hospital. His injuries were said to be non-life threatening but his condition was not immediately known. No other injuries were reported.
Interestingly, this incident is on the heels of a column written by Dorothy Parvaz of the Seattle Post-Intelligencer in which she claimed to understand the artistic power of burning down a historic church. I wonder if she can find the irony in a student stabbing another student inside of a high school art class?
