Case in Point: A bit of a “controversy” exploded after a magazine used a visual aid in response to a Golf Channel commentator’s metaphor about how the only way to stop Tiger Woods would be for the competition to gang up and, Lynch him in a back alley. The commentator, Kelly Tilghman, was suspended for her choice of words by the Golf Channel even though Tiger forgave the comment and even though her remark was an offhand joke, not something that she said because Tiger is black.
The magazine, Golfweek, used a picture of a noose on its cover to add shock value to their coverage of the Tiger Woods “controversy”. -Throw in a little bit of well organized outrage and what we have is a ruined career and charges of racism.
(CBS News) Golfweek apologized Friday for putting a noose on the cover of its magazine to illustrate the controversy over a Golf Channel anchor's use of "lynch" in a comment about Tiger Woods. The editor responsible for the cover was replaced [Fired] .
"We apologize for creating this graphic cover that received extreme negative reaction from consumers, subscribers and advertisers across the country," Turnstile Publishing Co. president William P. Kupper Jr. said. "We were trying to convey the controversial issues with a strong and provocative graphic image. It is now obvious that the overall reaction to our cover deeply offended many people. For that, we are deeply apologetic."
I happen to be deeply offended by the fact that a man was fired, his career ruined and his family cast in shame over a picture of a rope. [And it’s not like nooses can’t be used for good things too!] –But I demand an apology from Golfweek for bowing to political correctness at the expense of our freedom of expression... Oh, wait. I’m not black so I guess I can’t guilt-trip Whitey into submission. And keep in mind that the editor of Golfweek had nothing to do with the “lynching” statement but simply used a picture of a noose to highlight the article; to grab attention.
Meanwhile, the New York Times continues to commit treason and without shame, continues to slander the US military.
